It was December 2018 and I'd had enough.

Working in spaces that didn't (and would never) fully embrace what it takes to thrive in a content-driven world felt like poison for the soul. They say you are not your work but my creativity is in every fiber of my being so how could I not feel disconnected and unfulfilled doing unrewarding work 8 hours a day?

So I quit and set out to freelance until I found the people and the product whose vision and values lined up with mine.

In 2020 I found VEED, a now Sequoia-backed video editing startup. We were a small yet mighty team of seven people. For once, I was finally in a space where I could own and ship ideas.

My work felt meaningful again.

I've been creating content for over 10 years. But now, as a content lead, I love being a player-coach who brings out the best in others.

When I'm not working I like to document my thoughts in my newsletter, spend time with my family, take a Peloton class, and work on the art of making fluffy pancakes.

  • Blog content achieved a 28% content-to-product open rate with an 8% conversion rate (paid signups after a 7-day period) driving over $300K ARR and surpassing our KPIs.
  • Started our blog from scratch and drove 160,000 monthly organic visits in the first year.
  • Researched and outlined every single content piece myself, wrote some content myself, and hired and trained the freelancers who helped me write the content.
  • Built VEED's first video content team, video content strategy, and video creation best practices. I also heloped outline some videos and designed thumbnails (one of which is our #1 video with 1M+ views).

  • I started a dog sitting business that hit $6,000 to $8,000 MRR. My goal was to create a space to experiment with things I was curious about but couldn’t do at my main job.

  • Built and designed my own site, business cards, and business plan.
  • Sent home every new furry friend with a goodie bag, report card, and a refer-a-friend card.
